No Hope, Taut Rope

Even through their boisterous clapping/ I swear I heard each one of those poor bastards necks snapping/ one by one...

We Bow Our Heads
04:00
|

Stand up/ walk out the door/ What is it that you're all so afraid of/ look in his eyes/ look close this time/ pupils replaced by dollar signs/ no more glossy whites/ sockets filled to the brim with the lies/ sleazy priest with one hand to the sky/ while the other is zipping down his fly/ he bows his head/ pleads for forgiveness/ blames the devil for his thoughts and actions/ lays down to rest/ turns out the lights/ plagued with one more lonely sleepless night/ left to wonder about the lives/ of all those choir boys that caught his eye/ we know what you really are/ white collar/ black robe/ and blacker heart...

Stay Awake
04:05
|

It's gotten late so fast/ with so much time elapsed/ of the few who came/ even fewer stayed/ of the few that stayed/ all but two will stray/ its up to us to stay awake/ to spite the choices they have made/ so selfishly they sleep the day away/ in naivety/ blindly following their dreams/ crushed by the weight of eyelids so heavy they suffocate...

(by Edgar Allen Poe)

Buzzards
03:03
|
|||
Isn't this what you wanted/ to fill up the void/ melodies slaved over/ so easily destroyed/ overshadowed by chaos/ incomprehensible noise/ sprawled out on our backs/ waiting to die/ with our eyes widened/ fixed on the sky/ the buzzards have come/ to feast on our pride/ there will be nothing left but the bones they've picked dry/ and when we cross back over back to where we began/ our slates won't wipe clean like the purest of lambs/ we've become empty bookcases/ shadows of ourselves/ all that remains is the dust on the shelves/ how can we live with the guilt/ seeing these bridges we've built now burn/ now burn...

The Woods
02:10
|
|||
you can't help but feeling that something's awry/ once the darkness seeps in through the whites of your eyes/ so you sprint to be saved by the fast fading light/ but the trees stick out their legs and you fall hard into the night/ and when you come to you'll believe you've gone blind/ treetops twisting upwards won't bless you with any trace of the moonlight...
